Nevinnomyssk, Stavropol territory, Russia

Sravropol territory,Nevinnomyssk Wateã Treatment Station, 2007 . Nine AQUACHLOR-500 devices provide drinking water disinfection in the amount of 36 thousand m3 per 24 hours from surface source.

Operators keep record of AQUACHLOR-500 devices operating parameters as in all places where AQUACHLORs are installed. Nevinnomyssk Water Treatment Station, 2007.
ÂWTS, Nevinnomyssk, 2007. Low air and water in winter of 2007-2008 caused formation of hydrochlorides in AQ-500 reducers. Special electric radiators were successfully used to reheat the reducers in order to prevent formation of hydrochlorides.

AQUACHLOR-500 devices and support equipment lay-out at Nevinnomyssk Water Treatment Station, 2007.
Arrangement of AQUACHLOR devices in the premises is determined by convenience of:
- connecting each device to pressure line (from 2 till 6 bar/cm2), used for production of the oxidants solution (on the basis of 400 – 500 liters for one ÀQ-500 unit);
- taking the oxidants solution from the device through flexible PVC hose or hard PVC tubing of 15-18 mm in inside diameter;
- connecting each device to brine supply line (PVC tubing of 10-15 mm in inside diameter) and
- taking catholyte (hydrate of sodium solution with concentration of 150-170 g/l in the amount of 4-5 liters per hour from every device) through PVC tubing with not less than 5 mm in inside diameter.
If several AQUACHLOR devices are installed in one room, then water and brine supply lines as well as oxidants solution and catholyte taking lines can be performed by way of collectors from PVC tubing of suitable inside diameter made under the lines of AQUACHLORs on the floor in the empty space of 40 cm in width and 15 cm in height.
Tubing (collectors) for taking hydrogen outside the premises are arranged in the same rational (most short) way. Tubing (collectors) for collecting and taking hydrogen out should be arranged above AQUACHLOR devices at the top of the room. They should be fixed at the ceiling or walls by clamps or corbels.
Mention in the press
An event that in near future will play significant role in improvement of health and safety of townspeople took place on 16 February in Nevinnomyssk Water Treatment Station. The matter concerns installation and putting into operation on a new equipment for water treatment and disinfection - first group of AQUACHLOR devices.
At present water supplied to the townspeople is disinfected by chlorine. This process has very big disadvantages. First of them is storage of chlorine. Chlorine concentration of 3 g/cubic meter in the air is a fatal dose for human, that is why any emergency may lead to disastrous effects. Indeed, under agreement between the city’s administration and "EuroChim", JSC, chlorine is now stored in the territory of "Nevinnomysskiy Azot", JSC. Second chlorine’s disadvantage: chlorine-organic compounds are formed during water disinfection by chlorine which have a harmful effect on human’s health.
Of course, people and administration of the city were anxious about this, When working out strategic plan of the city’s development for the next 15 years, citizens were putting forward proposals on the city’s social development, Thus a suggestion was made by the citizen N.Z. Dneprov to get rid of chlorine in water disinfection process. The city’s mayor V.I. Ledovsky gave a commission to the chief engineer of the economy, trade and business committee of the city’s administration A.S. Asmolovsky to study this question.
At ETWATECH-2006 Water Forum specialists of the city’s Water Treatment Station and representatives of the city’s administration have discovered very interesting technology of oxidants production by AQUACHLOR device. As a raw material for disinfectant’s production in this technology serves absolutely safe components – water and usual salt (sodium chloride) plus electric power. Interaction of these components results in production of the oxidants solution which is an active disinfectant, The oxidants solution actively destroys bacteria, micro bacteria, viruses and fungi not causing adaptation of microorganisms to the solution.
AQUACHLOR is a very economical device about 4 kWt of electric powere and about 2 kg of sodium chloride (salt) as a brine are required for production of 1 kg of disinfectant. This is certainly cheaper than present water disinfection by chlorine, Mixed oxidants are more active than chlorine and they are required in less quantity for water disinfection, And the most important is that too much less chlorine organic compounds are formed in water. This is a short description of the new disinfectant solution produced by AQUACHLOR devices. The city’s administration acquired AQUACHLOR devices for Nevinnomyssk Water Treatment Station for the means received within the bounds of Agreement on social and economic cooperation signed with "Eurochim: JSC (about 6,5 million rubles).
Head of filtration station Tamara Petrovna Nizhelskaya says:
After considering a feasibility study prepared by "Engcomproject" we decided to apply AQUACHLOR devices developed by "Ekran" JSC, Moscow. AQUACHLOR devices are compact environmentally friendly and safe to use. At present we have purchased 9 devices. In order to disinfect all city water by means of AQUACHLORs we will need acquire several more devices. Applying AQUACHLOR systems will make needless purchase, transportation and storage of chlorine and will spare the city potential danger.
