Know-How for Swimming Pool (Kurgan)

KURGAN. Actually, just a single full-fledged Kurgan swimming pool is prepared for its new season. Swimming pool “Dolphin” is fit out with new water treating equipment, plant “AQUACHLOR” that was designed by the personnel of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. The “AQUACHLOR” electrochemically activated oxidant compound solution is used for disinfection of drink, swimming pool and drain waters. As compared to chlorine, its oxidants lack odor and do not emit to the atmosphere environment. They totally kill all the types of microbes and are not accompanied with any addiction. Leonid Bybin, Director of “Dolphin” swimming pool said: “We for a long time have been searching for the method of swimming pool water treatment to be considered as an alternative to chlorination, because chlorine is hazardous during its storage and transportation. Moreover, Ministry of Emergency Situations issued some regulating requirements. As for the method of ozone treatment, it is featured with a number of disadvantages. “AQUACHLOR” is the most optimal variant”. The method of “Aquachlor” treatment is cheaper than chlorine treatment and is very safe for swimming pool visitors. As compared to chlorine, the method of this does not cause any allergic reactions. Leonid M Bybin added: “We may also reject our UV equipment we used for disinfection of water and pool premises. That equipment consumes quite an amount of power, but now we are able to save some a lot of useful energy”.

For the present, the similar equipment is used in Kazan, Moscow and Novosibirsk. Its price makes up 850 thousand roubles. The new equipment is scheduled for purchasing by the swimming pool holder – Kurgan State University – that has already appropriated its own funds. Also, the swimming pool vestibule and its cloakroom were furbished. Previously, the common and children’s pool tile was replaced. They also plan replacing the common pool vitrages that were not changed from the day of swimming pool opening (i.e. for 26 years).

It should be noted that within the period of one year the amount of visitors attending the swimming pool made up, on the average, 13000 per month with 2000 of which to be the University students. “Dolphin” is a training base intended principally for the students of Physical and Valeology Departments.
