OJSC “Sintez” passed on its new Water Treatment Technology (Kurgan)

In terms of the epidemic factor, everybody knows that drink water must be chemically hazardous and have its favorable organoleptic properties. The same criteria shall be adopted all over the world. Taking into account that any technological process (especially biosynthesis) needs for water, OJSC “Sintez” shaped up own strategic line for improvement of its water treatment technology and production of only clean water. The strategy of this is successfully implemented in its phases. Particularly, we began efficiently consume water.

The next step involved replacement of one principal filtering section – we replaced the drain-distributing system for the state-of-the-art polymeric facility manufactured by “ETEK”.

Both, the special silica sand and special anthracite coal are the components that ensure the required multilayer filtration, thus removing excess mechanical impurities.

Then, we passed on the reagents of polyoxychloride (coagulant) and VPK 402 (flocculant). We determine both the dosage and ratio experimentally, especially in the event of high water.

This year, prior to water supply we have repaired the reservoirs with the use of the new penetrating material (penetron) that is capable not only to strengthen the walls down to the depth of 5-10 cm, but also it gives the respective waterproofing properties, resists to alkalies and reduces possibility of treated water reinfection.

There are several methods of drink water disinfection: chlorination, ozonization, ultraviolet radiation etc. The method of chlorination is the most efficient and effective and is principally applied all over the world including Russian Federation. In the case of the communal service company, it utilizes chlorine gas. But nevertheless some troubles exist, as chlorine is the substance to be referred to the first group of hazard (it cannot be shipped at large distances, its transportation, storage and utilization is regulated by specific standards, it should be handled by specially trained personnel, in the event of leakage it is hazardous to health etc.). Besides, when interacting with water chlorine kills pathogenic microflora on the one hand and oxidizes organic substances on the other hand producing hazardous to health compounds. As well as you can see, it has more disadvantages than advantages. Taking into account the aforesaid, the management of the municipal service company made a decision to search for other methods of drink water disinfection that should combine the best qualities of well-known disinfectants and eliminate all the negative features.

As a consequence, we have found the new patented technology – the oxidant compound solution (chlorine, chlorine dioxide, ozone) produced by “AQUACHLOR” (manufactured at NPO “Ekran”, RF Ministry of Health, by the technology developed by Professor V.M. Bakhir). At present, the very technology is widely used in various Russian regions – Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Chuvashia, as well as in Kirov, Novosibirsk and other regions.

Company “Sintez” purchased two similar plants. “AQUACHLOR” settles the matters of rational utilization of oxidant positive properties with the negative ones being removed. The plant is an alternative source of disinfectant to be used for water treatment on site. The plant may be immediately switched both on and off. The effect of prolongation makes it possible to protect drink water against influence of the pipeline condition. The plant has its long service life (from 20 years and over) and may run automatically without delays. Besides, by-product NOH is also utilized in the process of synthesis. As per our estimation, two plants would be enough to cover the company needs for clean water at any period of time including the events of critical nature (flood).

Thus, with the above characteristics being summed up, the “AQUACHLOR” chlorination technology is specified with its obvious advantages with respect to the criteria of labor protection and hygiene, ecological safety, efficiency and minimization of accompanying risks. It is obvious that the water treatment technology may be considered for “Sintez” as the method of great importance.

Upon delivery of the purchased equipment it was mounted and adjusted at the special-purpose chemical water treatment shop. In the mid of December the plant was commissioned and tested up. We schedule to run the plant in its operating mode and supply drink water to consuming reservoirs on the 1st of January. Thus, OJSC “Sintez” is the company that implements Ecological Quality Management Program approved by public authorities.

In conclusion, it should be noted that irrespective of high cost of the water treatment plant project, it is economically sound and effective.
