Periodic cleaning of cathode chamber of the reactor by hydrochloric acid solution is required when using sodium chloride solution containing hard salts and polyvalent metals ions. Cleaning intervals should be defined by degree of hardness of the brine and makes up on average once per 72 hours of continuous or total operation.
