Technology
Ion-selective Electrolysis with DiaphragmIn the year of 1995 Bakhir V. M. developed a process of ion-selective electrolysis with diaphragm which was later on implemented in AQUACHLOR devices. Ion-selective electrolysis with diaphragm (ISED) is a new process introduced into electrochemical industries technology which fundamentally differs from well-known processes of electrolysis with separated anode and cathode spaces, such as electrolysis with submerged or filtering orifice, electrolysis with ion-exchange membrane. The fundamental peculiarity of the new process is that ion transfer selectivity during electrolytic aqueous solutions electrolysis is achieved due to the fact that there are current density and pressure gradients created in the volume of diaphragm pore space with the help of micro-filtration ceramic diaphragm made of zirconium, aluminium and yttrium oxides, which is placed between electrodes of electrochemical system, with these gradients controlling the speed and direction of water migration in diaphragm pores, as well as migration of charged particles (ions) contained in it. ISED technology has been developed to ensure high-performance and ecologically safe synthesis of light-end products mixture containing – chlorine (95%), chlorine dioxide (3%), ozone (2%), as well as of sodium hydroxide solution (150 – 170 gram/litre), these products being synthesized of sodium chloride solution (200 – 250 gram/litre), and is implemented in the devices of AQUACHLOR type, the main product of which is acid water solution (with ðÍ equal to 2,5 – 3,5) of the above mentioned oxidants with concentration equal to 0,5 to 2,0 g/l (analogue of chloric water which is formed in chlorinators installed at waste-water treatment facilities when chlorine gas is loaded into water) and sodium hydroxide solution with concentration equal to 150 – 170 g/l. In the year of 1996 Bakhir V. M. and Zadorozhniy Yu. G. created the first AQUACHLOR device. Since that time the work on the technology and AQUACHLOR devices continuously performed under the direction of the authors has resulted in their improvement and has made them more compact, reliable and convenient. Special patented construction of electrochemical reactors consisting of flow electrochemical modular elements FEM-7 and the technology of electrochemically activated oxidants mixture solution synthesis – that is, ion-selective electrolysis with diaphragm, – permit to generate oxidants mixture solution which possesses unique efficiency and unique properties and is irreplaceable for drinking water, swimming-pools water and waste waters disinfection, and, having no competitors, it is successfully applied, more particularly, in technological processes that are implemented in food industry and in other industries, as well. |
