Production of AQUACHLORs

AQUACHLOR - is a compact safe device for generation of electrochemically activated oxidants solution (composed of hypochlorous acid, chlorine dioxide, ozone, hydroperoxides with total concentration of 0.5-2 gl) from sodium chloride aqueous solution.

AQUACHLOR devices are manufactured under the Russian patents owned by Vitold M. Bakhir and Yury G. Zadorozhny. AQUACHLOR devices are manufactured solely by the two Russian companies – "Laboratory of Electrotechnology", Ltd (LET Ltd) and Research and Production Association "EKRAN", JSC (EKRAN).

Areas of application:

• water treatment and disinfection at water treatment stations;
• water treatment and disinfection in swimming pools, saunas, baths;
• household, industrial and agricultural wastewater disinfection;
• medical wastewater disinfection prior to disposal;
• water disinfection in reverse cooling water supply in energy and chemical industries, metal manufacture;
• water disinfection in technological cycles of manufacturing enterprises, food industry etc.

Salt, water and electric power are needed for AQUACHLOR operation.

New technological process realized in AQUACHLOR is ion-selective electrolysis with diaphragm, providing separation of initial brine with concentration of 180-250 g/l in modular electrochemical reactors FEM-7 during one cycle of treatment into wet gaseous oxidants (chlorine, chlorine dioxide and ozone) and sodium hydroxide solution with concentration 150-170 g/l at salt conversion rate of 98-99.5 % and power consumption of 2-3 kWt/hour for generation of 1 kg of gaseous oxidants. Gaseous oxidants are supplied to ejector mixer immediately after being generated where they dissolve in water passing through the device turning to be aqueous solution of mixed oxidants with concentration of 0.5-2.0 g/l. Oxidants solution is supplied to the treated water stream directly or through the collecting tank. Sodium hydroxide solution is used for preparation of coagulants solution and as an effective cleansing solution.
